Despite the aggression against Ukraine, Russia has in 2023 continued to act as a disruptive factor in this region, especially in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro. Vladimir Putin only needs pro-Russian politicians in the Balkans to maintain tension in this region, to prevent European integration and access to the NATO block in particular.
