Almost 14.000 people died in almost two years in Bosnia and Herzegovina due to corona virus infection. The pandemic has revealed all weaknesses of the healthcare system.
Oxygen, life or death?
All healthcare institutions in Republika Srpska entity and a smaller number in Federation of BiH, are using industrial instead of medicinal oxygen in treatment of the patients. Frightened by the possible reaction of the public the authorities in RS and directors of the hospitals are first hiding the truth. After the initial denial, persons responsible started to confess that industrial oxygen was actually used to treat the patients. Medical institutions started buying medical oxygen after the affair was revealed.
